Cougars Set To Play Host To Rhode Island

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Women's Tennis returns home for a five-match homestand beginning with Rhode Island on Tuesday, March 10 at 2 p.m. This match marks head coach Angelo Anastopoulo's 1,000^th career match throughout his 29 years at The College.

CofC enters the match with a 9-5 overall record, riding a four-match win streak with wins over Towson (7-0), St. John's (4-3), Duquesne (6-0) and Georgia Southern (4-3). The Cougars hold a 5-1 record when playing at Patriots Point, with their only loss coming from Charlotte.

Freshman Halli Trinkle leads the team in singles play, holding an impressive 11-2 record with an 11-1 record at the No. 2 position. Junior Eva Nyikos comes in at second with an 9-4 record, all at the No. 3 position.

Trinkle and Nyikos have been dominant in doubles play as well, logging a 9-3 record when on the same court.

Rhode Island enters the match with an overall record of 3-6, riding a three-match losing skid. The Rams most recently fell to Harvard by a score of 7-0. Head coach Val Villucci has been coaching at URI since 1993, coaching both the men and women. This match marks the first meeting between the two programs.
