
Cross Country Teams Venture to Boston for CAA Championships

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country teams will compete in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston. Northeastern is serving as the host for the second time in the 38-year history of the event.
The women's 6k race begins at 10 a.m. followed by the men's 8k at 11 a.m. Live results, course maps and meet history can be found on the CAA Championships site. The top 14 women's finishers and top 12 men's finishers will earn All-CAA recognition.
Cougar Women
• Cate Ambrose and Kristen Cherry have been the team's top two runners, finishing 1-2 among the Cougars in all five races this fall.
• Ambrose enters the meet ranked third in school history in the 6k with a time of 20:40.7 achieved at the CAA Meet last March in Winnabow, N.C.
• Ambrose's time placed her 15th, missing out on All-CAA accolades by one spot.
• Cherry also ranks among the CofC elite at the distance, ranking sixth with a time of 21:28.1 at the most recent conference championships.
• Rhian Purves (21:3.6) and Emily Dorony (21:50.2) are fifth and eighth, respectively, in the CofC 6k record book. Purves has been among the top five all season for the Cougars.
• Freshman Sophia Brown has been in the top five among her teammates in every race and was third on the Cougars at the Upstate Invitational two weeks ago.
Cougar Men
• Jack Wedge looks to improve his current sixth place standing in the 8k, achieving that ranking with a time of 25:29.18 at the Pirate Challenge in Greenville, N.C., in 2019.
• Wedge has finished as high as 21st at the CAA Championships, doing so at the 2019 meet in New Market, Va.
• Wedge and Jackson Reid have been the top two Cougar finishers in all five races this season, with Wedge topping the team three times and Reid twice.
• Freshman Dylan McTigue has been a consistent scorer this season and finished third among his teammates on two occasions.
• Ryan Moosbrugger and Hammer Blair have also scored for CofC this fall.
