Smeltzer Venerated As CAA Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. --- College of Charleston freshman Tynley Smeltzer has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career after averaging a league-best 6.00 digs per set in a weekend split at Northeastern this past weekend.

Smeltzer continued her strong play in the libero jersey with a stellar weekend helping Charleston to a split at Northeastern recording 42 digs while averaging 6.00 per set. The Savannah, Ga. native opened the weekend with a season-high 24 digs to go along with four assists and an ace as the Cougars held the Huskies to a .039 hitting percentage in a four-set victory on Saturday. She then capped the weekend with 18 digs - including 10 in the third set - in the Cougars' setback on Sunday.

The Cougars return to the court on Saturday, November 13 when they host UNCW in the first of two matches on the final weekend of the regular season. First serve on Saturday is slated for 1:00 p.m. from TD Arena.
