
Cougars Welcome Chanticleers to Patriots Point Wednesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston women's tennis team returns home to the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point tomorrow to host regional rival Coastal Carolina. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Charleston picked up its first win of the season with a hard-fought 5-2 win over Presbyterian on Sunday afternoon in Clinton, S.C. Junior Clara Errard delivered the decisive point with a 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) win in the sixth singles flight after partnering with grad student Anastasia Palaska for a 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 3 doubles to give the Cougars the doubles point. Eva Nyikos and Kate Earnhardt also won at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, as Nyikos, Earnhardt and Peyton Brotzman each collected a singles victory.

Somer Dalla-Bona, Victoire De Samucewicz, Valentina Urelli, Kristyna Jurkova and Jesse Hollins each delivered singles wins, including a gritty 6-7, 6-2, 11-9 victory for Jurkova in the fourth flight. Dalla-Bona leads the Chants with a 3-1 singles record.
