CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mia Dittoe had three hits and
Camden Carter hit her first career home run, but Charlotte rallied for 14 runs over its final three at bats for a 16-6 win in College of Charleston's second game Sunday.
The Cougars dropped a 6-1 decision to Campbell earlier in the day. CofC returns to Patriots Point for a doubleheader against Coastal Carolina at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The Cougars scored four times in the top of the fourth against the 49ers, including RBI singles by
Noel Dominguez,
Kayla Gutierrez and Dittoe. Charlotte answered with four of its own in the bottom of the inning before pulling away.
Dittoe also singled and scored in the first and added another hit in the sixth after Carter's home run to left brought CofC within 10-6.
The game against Campbell was scoreless through two before the Camels got over the hump on a two-run single by Claudia Ware in the third. The Cougars avoided the shutout in the seventh on a double by
Payton Wade and single by
Riley Miller.
