CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team looks to build on the momentum of its dramatic win at South Carolina when it hosts Stetson in the home opener on Sunday at 6 p.m.
What: Stetson Hatters (0-1-0) at College of Charleston Cougars (1-0-0)
When: Sunday, August 29, 2021 | 6:05 p.m.

Aaron Olitsky Memorial Game
Sunday's contest will be the 21st annual Aaron Olitsky Memorial Game. A 1997 graduate and member of the Cougar soccer team, Olitsky was tragically killed in a car accident in 2001.
Cougars Down Gamecocks in Season Opener
• Kane Ritchie scored his first career goal to give CofC a 1-0 overtime win at South Carolina
• Rio Murray and Jake Nicholson combined for the assist on an open field run to produce the goal
• Cameron Smith made five saves to record his fourth career shutout
• The Cougars are 6-2-1 in their last nine meetings with the Gamecocks
Smith Coming Off All-Conference Season
• Cameron Smith picked up where he left off last spring with his shutout of South Carolina
• Smith was third team All-CAA last season after ranking second with an .828 save percentage
• He had two shutouts, including a win over No. 16 Coastal Carolina
• Smith also blanked No. 12 UNCW in a 0-0 draw with the Seahawks
• He was CAA Defensive Player of the Week after both the Coastal and UNCW contests
About the Hatters
• Stetson dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to Winthrop at home in its opener on Thursday
• The Hatters scored twice in the final nine minutes of regulation to take a 3-2 lead
• Oliver Bryneus had a goal and assist, and Ajmeer Spengler and Alex Turner also scored goals
• Stetson was 1-5-2 in an abbreviated 2020 season
Cougars vs. Hatters
• CofC holds a 4-2-1 lead in the series including wins in 1992 and 1993 as TAAC opponents
• The last meeting came in 2019 with the Hatters winning, 1-0, at Patriots Point
• The Cougars took a 2-1 win in 2018 with then-sophomore Jake Nicholson scoring the tying goal
