
Cougars to Run in Chanticleer Challenge on Friday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country teams make the short jaunt to Conway, S.C., on Friday to compete in the Chanticleer Challenge.
The meet will take place at the Hackler Golf Course on the campus of Coastal Carolina. The women's 5k begins at 5 p.m., followed by the men's 8k at 5:45. Results will be provided by c.f.p.i. timing.
Joining the Cougars from the CAA are Elon and UNCW. Other competing schools include the host Chanticleers, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Coker, Louisburg, Missouri Valley, SC State, Savannah State, Stetson, Wake Forest and Winthrop.
Cougar Women
• Cate Ambrose and Kristen Cherry both made a move in the school record book two weeks ago at the Firetower Project.
• Ambrose climbed to fifth in the 5k with a PR of 17:50.38, and Cherry cracked the Top 10 at No. 8 with a PR of 17:59.56.
• Also coming off PRs at the meet at Appalachian State are Emily Dorony (18:29.29), Morgan Summey (18:48.89) and Isabel Muehleman (19:21.73).
• Freshman Sophia Brown has scored for the Cougars in each of her first two collegiate meets, placing fifth among CofC runners at both events.
Cougar Men
• Jackson Reid and Jack Wedge have both earned top finishing honors for the Cougars so far this fall.
• Reid took the top spot among CofC runners at the Buccaneer Invitational, and Wedge paced his teammates at the Firetower Project.
• Ryan Moosbrugger and Hammer Blair have scored for the Cougars at both meets as did Dylan McTigue at the Buccaneer Invitational and Lucas Davis at the Firetower Project.
