
Women's Tennis Prepares for ITA Regionals

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The College of Charleston's women's tennis team will be competing in the ITA Division I Carolina Women's Regional Championship beginning Thursday October 13 and running through Tuesday, October 21 at Wake Forest University. The ITA Regional Championship feature some of the nations top men and women's players with 8,000 student-athletes competing in the championships. Regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending ITA National Fall Championships.
"We have been working hard and are excited to test ourselves against some of the best college players in the country," said head coach Angelo Anastopoulo.
Thursday competition will consist of two rounds of qualifying singles along with the first round of doubles play. Friday will begin with two rounds of doubles play followed by a round of singles.
Senior Slade Coetzee will be entering this tournament 3-0 after her undefeated weekend at the Charleston Southern Invitational. She will be playing double with Halli Trinkle, who is coming off of an impressive junior season after finishing with a sinlges record of 21-3.
Sophomore Maja Jekauc had an impressive finish to her freshman season, having competed in 20 out of 21 matches while 16-5 in singles matches. She will team up with rookie Elle Bredemann for doubles. Bredemann had an impressive debut at the Charleston Southern Invitational after winning her singles flight.
