MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston played to a 0-0 draw against North Florida on Tuesday night to complete an undefeated season at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point.
The Cougars won five of eight home contests and tied three others for their first unbeaten home campaign since going 7-0-1 in 2003. Charleston also recorded its sixth shutout of the season, all at home, with
Olly Marshall making four saves for his fourth clean sheet.
Overall, Charleston scored 13 goals and conceded only three at home and played 402 consecutive shutout minutes at Patriots Point since William & Mary scored early in the second half of an October 2 match.
"I am proud of the boys to get another shutout at home, but I am disappointed with our effort," said head coach
Keith Wiggans. "We lacked the ability to create chances, and North Florida was first to any loose balls.
"To have five wins and three draws at home is quite an accomplishment. We definitely enjoyed playing at Patriots Point."
North Florida took 18 shots to only four for the Cougars but only four of those Osprey attempts were on target.
Zinho Ballish had two of Charleston's shots, and
Chris Elliott and
Grayson Mendelsohn had the others.
The Cougars finish the regular season and CAA slate on Saturday at Hofstra and will be looking to clinch a berth in the conference tournament. Charleston will wrap up a spot in the six-team field with a win over the Pride or if it gets help in other matches that afternoon.
