
Cougars Head to Radford for First Time in Three Decades

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston plays Radford in the finale of a three-game road trip and visits the Dedmon Center for the first time since December 1991 when the teams meet Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Charleston holds a 4-2 lead in the series which resumed last season with a neutral site game in Conway, S.C. Anika McGarity hit seven 3-pointers, the second most in school history, and scored 22 points to lead the Cougars. She made five 3s in the first quarter as the Cougars raced to a quick 27-11 lead.
The Cougars (1-3) held leads in the fourth quarter before dropping games at Tarleton and Gardner-Webb in the first two games of their current road swing. The Highlanders evened their record at 3-3 with a win over UNCW on Sunday.
In last Wednesday's loss to the Runnin' Bulldogs, freshmen Jazmyn Stone and Alexis Andrews combined for 45 points, and Jaila Roberts came within one rebound and three assists of the second triple-double in school history.
Stone scored 27 points, including 18 in the second half, and Andrews had 18 points while adding seven rebounds and five assists. Roberts (13 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists) and Jada Logan (12 points) also reached double figures, and Adaora Onwumelu and Nicole Hemphill had a season-high eight points each.
Logan leads the Cougars and ranks third in the CAA and 23rd nationally with an average of 20.0 ppg. The USC Upstate transfer also paces Charleston with 6.0 rpg. Roberts is sixth in the conference with 4.0 apg, and Andrews is fifth in steals with 2.5 spg.
Ashlyn Traylor leads Radford with 12.2 ppg, 22 assists and 11 steals. Rachel LaLonde is averaging 11.3 ppg on 60.0 percent shooting (27-of-45) and is the Highlander's top rebounder with 8.5 rpg.
