Jazmyn Stone set a career-high with 32 points to help lead College of Charleston to a 79-48 victory over Charleston Southern on Sunday afternoon at TD Arena.Â
Stone hit 11-of-20 field goal attempts with five coming from 3-point distance.
Anika McGarity had 15 points including three baskets from deep, and
Jada Logan had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.Â
The win was the second in 48 hours for the Cougars against in-state foes. Charleston defeated Coastal Carolina, 85-81, at TD Arena on Friday.
Kennedi Jackson of Charleston Southern recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.Â
Charleston's next game is against Berry on December 13 at TD Arena with tip-off at 7 p.m.
How it Happened
•   The first quarter was tight with the Cougars building a seven-point lead with two minutes left before the Buccaneers pulled within three at 20-17.Â
•   Charleston Southern tied it up to start the second period before CofC took control.Â
•   The Cougars started to break away by outscoring the Bucs, 19-3, over the final seven minutes of the second quarter and led 42-23 at halftime.
•   CofC's defense continued to hold the Bucs in check, keeping CSU off the board for the first four minutes of the third quarter, and back-to-back 3-pointers by Stone and
Jaila Roberts made it 60-25.Â
•   College of Charleston kept the offensive momentum rolling until the final buzzer, scoring 19 points in the fourth compared to CSU's 13. Â
Statistically Speaking
•   Stone recording her fourth straight game with at least 20 points and set a career high with 32 points. Â
•   McGarity made 6-of-8 from the field including 3-of-4 from 3-point distance. Â
•   Along with her double-double, Logan had five assists and three steals.
Game Notes
•   Stone establishing a career high for the second time this season after scoring 27 against Gardner-WebbÂ
•   The 32 points is tied for the fifth highest by a Cougar in the Division 1 era.Â
•   Stone has an average of 25 points per game in her last four games.Â
•   Including Logan's 33 points against Coastal Carolina on Friday, this is only the second time in the DI era that two different Cougars have scored 30 points in the same season.
•   Charleston's next game will be on Tuesday, December 13 against Berry at TD Arena in the final non-conference home game of the season. Tip-off at 7 p.m.
