CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will hit the road for the first time in 2022 on Tuesday when the Cougars head to Clemson, S.C. to renew acquaintances with in-state foe Clemson in their first midweek game of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
Charleston and Clemson both carry a 3-0 record into Tuesday's matchup following sweeps over Wagner and Indiana, respectively. Clemson leads the all-time series, 23-4, with Charleston taking the last two meetings including a 13-6 victory in Clemson on April 13 of last season.

LEADING OFF
- The Cougars opened the season with their third series sweep in the last five years, outscoring Wagner by a 30-11 margin while hitting .340 and combining for 18 extra-base hits as a team. The sweep also marks the Cougars' sixth straight season-opening series victory.
- Junior catcher JT Marr was named the CAA's Co-Player of the Week on Monday after batting .583 (7-12) with two doubles, a home run and three RBI against Wagner. The Fort Mill, S.C. native recorded three straight multi-hit games including a three-hit effort in his CofC debut on Friday.
- The Cougars unleashed an offensive onslaught in Friday's season opener pushing across 20 runs on 21 hits, including 13 for extra bases. Six players recorded a multi-hit game with five Cougars driving in at least two runs. The 20-run outpouring is tied for the second-highest opening day total in program history.
- Freshmen Daniel Brooks, Cole Mathis, Tyler Sorrentino and Preston each showcased game-changing talent in their collegiate debuts over the weekend. Brooks and Mathis combined for 12 strikeouts in nine innings of work while Hall reached base eight times and went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo homer in the season opener. Sorrentino put his game-altering speed and elite baserunning on display in Sunday's series finale.
- Six Cougars have driven in at least three runs this season, led by junior Joseph Mershon with five - three of which coming on a game-breaking three-run bomb on Friday. Tanner Steffy and Cam Dean have each plated four while JT Marr, Trotter Harlan and Luke Wood have all accounted for three.
- The Cougars started the season with a bang on Friday hitting four home runs in a 20-5 win over Wagner - the most Charleston has hit on opening day since the Cougars also hit four against four against George Mason in 2008.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- The Tigers opened the season with a series sweep of Indiana outscoring the Hoosiers by a 33-8 margin.
- Clemson is batting .284 as a team with three doubles, three home runs and 36 walks.
- The Tiger pitching staff sports a 2.57 ERA with 31 strikeouts and a .184 batting average against in 28 innings of work.
- Three Tigers carry a batting average over .400 into the week led by Caden Grice who went 6-for-12 on the season's opening weekend with a home run and a team-high six RBI.
- Tuesday starter Billy Harlow worked one scoreless inning in Friday's season opener with a strikeout.
