Marr Named Semifinalist for Buster Posey Award

WICHITA, Kan. --- College of Charleston junior catcher JT Marr has been named one of 16 semifinalists for the prestigious Buster Posey National Catcher of the Year Award announced the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission on Thursday afternoon.
Marr is only the second catcher in program history to be named a semifinalist for the award and the first since it was renamed in honor of former collegiate standout and three-time World Series Champion Buster Posey. The junior transfer has made an immediate impact in his first season with the Cougars starting his tenure at The College with a 24-game reached base streak and currently leads the team in batting average (.320), hits (66), home runs (7), RBI's (40), slugging percentage (.505) and total bases (104).
A native of Fort Mill, S.C. Marr has been superb behind the dish as well carrying a .995 fielding percentage into the weekend with only two errors in nearly 400 chances in the field while throwing out nine base stealers thus far. He has quickly established himself as one of the best hitters in the CAA as well, entering the weekend leading the league in hits while ranking third in batting average and total bases, and seventh in RBI.
