MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball were defeated by Campbell, 6-4, Sunday afternoon at Patriots Point.
Redshirt senior Alex Lyon tossed a career-high 5.2 innings out of the bullpen, yielding just one run on five hits and one walk while punching out a career-best five batters.
The Cougars are 20-23 overall and 10-11 in the CAA while the Camels are now 29-14 and 20-4 in the league.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CAMPBELL:
- Campbell got out to a 4-0 advantage with a run in the first and three in the third.
- Redshirt senior Ethan Plyler singled to right in the fourth to bring home freshman Jake Amman.
- In the fifth, freshman Nick Diaz launched his first career long ball, a solo shot to left.
- The Camels tacked on runs in the sixth and top of the ninth for the four-run lead.
- In the bottom of the ninth, Charleston worked back-to-back walks before Amman soared a ball to dead center for an RBI double.
- Graduate Dylan Johnson cut the Camel lead in half with an RBI groundout, but the Cougars could not push across anymore runs.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 16-24 against Campbell.
- Lyon made his 94th career relief appearance Sunday, one shy of tying the career relief appearance record.
- The redshirt senior tossed a career-high 5.2 innings.
- Lyon has gone at least 4.0 IP six times this season and 10 in his career.
- Lyon also struck out a career-best five batters Sunday.
- Plyler went 3-for-4 in the setback.

- Charleston begins the month of May on the road when it travels to Wilmington May 1-3. First pitches are scheduled for 6 p.m., 4 p.m. and 2 p.m.
