CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston will seek to go 2-for-2 in its season-opening homestand when the Cougars host Coastal Carolina on Sunday at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and admission to all Cougar home soccer games is free. The game will be streamed on FLOFC and live stats will be available at the links above.
The Cougars will be in search of back-to-back wins to open the season for the first time since 2014 and snap a two-game skid against the Chanticleers. Coastal won last year, 2-1, in Conway with Delaney Dawes scoring the goal for Charleston.
The Chanticleers took a 1-0 victory in their last visit to Patriots Point during the Spring 2021 season and lead the all-time series by a 5-3-2 margin.
Charleston opened its season in style with a 3-0 win over Alabama A&M on Thursday. Faith Slimmer assisted on the first two goals by Mary Alexander and Bubbles Dever and scored the final goal with an assist from her sister, Hope.
Coastal played to a 2-2 draw at home against Jacksonville to start its 2022 campaign. Megan Brouse gave the Chanticleers an early 1-0 lead, and Julia Ziegenfuss tied it at two nine minutes into the second half. Katelyn Kellogg made four saves while playing the entire 90 minutes.
Brouse led Coastal in scoring last year with seven goals and 15 points followed by Sarah Allen with four goals and three assists for 11 points.
