
Four Cougars Enter Indoor Record Book at Blue Marlin Invitational

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. – Four College of Charleston athletes, including a pair of freshmen, entered the school indoor record book at the Blue Marlin Invitational on Saturday in Virginia Beach.
Two of the new entries into the top 10 came in the pole vault. Tonet Tallie cleared the bar at 11'5 ¾" to move into a third-place tie in Cougar history, and freshman Ruby Hansen now stands in a tie for ninth with a mark of 9'6 ¼".
Luzy Lieger was second in the event on Saturday at 11'11 ¾" with Tallie taking third.
Freshman Andie Harding made her collegiate debut a successful one, posting a time of 2:20.74 in the 800 to join the record book in eighth place. She was fifth in the event, and Meike Kalus was eighth with a PR of 2:23.23.
Rhian Purves took over eighth place in the record book in the 3000 with a time of 10:17.14 and is now in the top 10 in four events, including the 800, mile, 3000 and 5000.
Kaitlynn Bailey ran a 7.92 in the 60 to move into sole possession of third place in school history after entering the day tied for that spot. Alicia Wilson also had a PR in 60 with a mark of 8.24 and added another in the 200 (27.19).
Kirsten McKenna missed a spot in the top 10 by .41 after recording a time of 1:01.23 in the 400 to finish 10th in a field of 25 runners.
Leading the way in the jumps were Kylie Dougherty and Emma Fortuna, who both went 4'11" in the high jump. Abby Fush (16'11 ½") and Catie O'Neill (15'10 ¼) both qualified for the finals in the long jump.
The Cougars are off next weekend before competing in the South Carolina Invitational on February 3-4 in Columbia.
