Charleston Volleyball Extends Home Win Streak Saturday

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston volleyball erased an early 1-0 deficit for a 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-21) win over Elon Saturday from TD Arena to push their home win streak to three dating back to a weekend sweep of UNCW two weeks ago.

Elon took a back-and-forth first set 25-23 and hit .209, but that was the best set the Cougar defense would allow to happen as they put the clamps on and held the Phoenix to just .089 the rest of the way. Charleston would end the day with 10 blocks, four solo coming from Sofie Vogel, Sopheea Mink, Anna Smith and Morgan Cobb, and 78 digs (their most in a four-set match this season).

Lexi Wierzbicki had a match-high 13 kills and three service aces, Sopheea Mink added nine, Sofie Vogel had eight and Morgan Cobb added seven for the balanced Cougar attack. On defense, Tynley Smeltzer headlined a trio with 10-plus digs stuffing the stat sheet with 22 of her own while Elli Kinney added 16 and Hannah Scott added 11.
