CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston sailing rode a strong start to the 2023 SAISA Fall Open Championship Sunday afternoon posting a 25-point win. The latest regatta win gives the Cougars nine this fall as a team and second over the last three weekends.

Charleston posted a regatta-best 21 points in B Division and second-lowest of 33 in A Division for 54 total, besting N.C. State by 25 points. Skippers

Benjamin Dufour, alongside crew members
Lucy Klempen and
Noelle Owen, posted seven wins in 22 rotations and finished no lower than fifth in any race.

Dufour and Owen's 21 points in B Division saw podium finishes in 10 of their 11 rotations while Zittrer and Klempen in A Division posted top-three finishes in seven of their 11 races.

In the Women's Fall Championship, the Cougar comeback effort came just two points shy after trading the lead with Jacksonville and eventual champion South Florida throughout day two. Charleston's 44 points were good for a second-place finish behind the Bulls (42 points) and two points clear of Jacksonville (46).

Lucy Klempen posted a B Division-best 20 points finishing no lower than fourth in any race. A Division saw
Grace Squires sail with
Chloe Hudgins and
Noelle Owen and post 24 points with top-three finishes in seven of their eight rotations.
