
Women's Golf Looks to Defend Title at Evie Odom Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's golf team will travel to Virginia Beach this weekend for the Evie Odom Invitational hosted by Old Dominion.
The Cougars are coming off a short break after playing in Nashville, Tennessee two weeks ago. Emma Schimpf led CofC with a T33 placement in the previous tournament.
This year signifies the fifth occasion when the ODU women's golf program will host a collegiate tournament at the Princess Anne Country Club, and it will also be the third year under the name Evie Odom Invitational. Evie Odom, the namesake of the tournament, has left an indelible mark on women's sports at ODU Athletics.
The College of Charleston placed first in last year's tournament, posting a three-over par 843. Schimpf carded three rounds under par, earning her the individual medalist honors with an impressive nine-under 201. She showcased her skill with eight birdies during her final round, including five on the back nine.
