Barron Matches Career Saves High in Loss at Northeastern

BOSTON – Northeastern scored two goals just six minutes apart early in the second half to hand College of Charleston a 2-0 loss on Thursday night.

The Cougars fell to 2-4-2 in CAA play heading into a three-game homestand beginning Sunday against Stony Book. The women's soccer team will celebrate Senior Day prior to the 1 p.m. match against the Seawolves.

Savannah Barron was solid in goal despite allowing the two Husky scores. The junior keeper matched her career high with 10 saves, many of the spectacular variety, to keep the Cougars within striking distance. Barron also had 10 stops against Furman last season.

Charleston withstood a 13-shot attack in the first half to go into intermission in a scoreless tie before Jessie Hunt scored in the 53rd minute and Lauren Ahles added another 6:24 later. Northeastern finished with a 22-8 margin in shots and took nine corners to one for the Cougars.

Olivia Freitas and Shea Vidovic led Charleston with two shots each.
