TOWSON, Md. --- No. 4 seed College of Charleston volleyball fell 3-0 to No. 5 seed Stony Brook in the opening round of the 2023 CAA Championships from Towson University.

Five Cougars combined for the team's 29 kills led by
Lexi Wierzbicki's eight and
Olivia Mae Van Der Werff's seven, but Stony Brook got 16 from Kali Moore and 14 from Leoni Kunz to outhit the Cougars and advance to the semifinals.

Tynley Smeltzer reached the 1,000 dig mark in the second set and paced the Cougar backline with 16. Smeltzer became the 22nd Cougar to reach 1,000 career digs and is the first since current assistant coach
Lauren Freed did so in the 2019 season.

Wierzbicki finished just two kills shy of her ninth double-double,
Sofie Vogel had six kills and three blocks and
Sopheea Mink had three kills and a block in their final match at the College of Charleston.

- Lexi Wierzbicki led the Charleston attack in kills for the 12th time this season and ends her career with 1,305 career kills, 507 digs and 214 blocks.
- Sofie Vogel ends her Charleston career with 379 kills, 100 digs and 179 blocks after enjoying a career-best season in 2023.
- Sopheea Mink spent one season with Charleston but posted personal highs across to board to finish with 581 kills, 231 digs and 199 career blocks.
