RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston volleyball seniors Sofie Vogel and Sopheea Mink were named the CAA Co-Offensive and Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office.
Mink hit .450 in a weekend sweep of Hofstra putting down 32 kills (4.0 per set) including a career-high 17 in a five-set thriller Sunday on Senior Day. The graduate outside hitter hit .500 in a sweep of the Pride Saturday and followed with her 17-kill career performance Sunday hitting .406. Mink also added nine digs and six blocks as the Cougars prevailed both days.
Vogel recorded 16 blocks to average 2.0 per set in the Senior Weekend sweep. She had a career-best 12 in Sunday's five-set comeback win and finished just two kills shy of a double-double. Her effort Sunday was the third-highest block total from any CAA student-athlete this season. Vogel also added 12 kills and three digs to go along with her record-setting block performances.
Vogel and Mink become the second and third Charleston student-athletes to earn CAA Player of the Week recognition joining Tynley Smeltzer. Both earned their first career CAA weekly nod as well.
Mink, Vogel and the Cougars head to Hampton, Va. for the final weekend of CAA action before gearing up for the 2023 CAA Championships in Towson, Md. the following week.
