Men's Basketball Opens Homestand vs. Rhode Island

CHARLESTON, S.C. -  The College of Charleston men's basketball team returns home after 34 days on the road to face Rhode Island tomorrow at TD Arena for Kid's Day presented by Great Clips. Action is set for 2:00 p.m.

STORYLINES
  • The College of Charleston men's basketball team returns to TD Arena after 34 days on the road. The Cougars went 3-4 during the road stretch.
  • Charleston most recently participated in the Field of 68 Tip-Off in Boca Raton, Florida. The Cougars handed Liberty their second loss of the season before falling to then No. 13 Florida Atlantic to split the weekend. Liberty was ranked over 100 spots better in the KenPom rankings (39) than the Cougars (142) prior to the contest.
  • The Cougars overall schedule is the 33rd toughest schedule in all of Division I men's basketball this season (as of Dec. 7). The next CAA team is North Carolina A&T at 86 followed by Northeastern at 106.
  • Charleston currently ranks sixth in the country in three-point attempts per game (30.8). Reyne Smith recorded his 200th career three vs. FAU and moved into seventh all-time in career threes made at Charleston while in Boca.
  • This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the Cougars and the Rams with Rhode Island holding a 3-1 series advantage. The teams last met at TD Arena on November 13, 2018. The Rams won the contest 66-55.
  • Rhode Island is coming off a 67-64 loss to Brown on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at home. Jaden House led the Rams with 16 points followed by David Fuchs with 11.
  • Redshirt freshman Jordan Crawford was named the CAA Rookie of the Week after his performance at the Field of 68 Tip-Off in Boca Raton. The rookie was in double figures in both games for Charleston at The Field of 68 Tip-Off in Boca Raton. He is the first Cougar to earn the honor since Reyne Smith on January 24, 2022.
  • Several Cougars are closing in on career milestones. Ante Brzovic currently sits at 995 career points while Frankie Policelli has recorded 986.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
  • Rhode Island currently sits at 5-3 on the year.
  • College of Charleston will be the first of three CAA opponents for Rhode Island over its next four games. Rhody faces Delaware at the Holiday Hoopfest in Elmont, N.Y. on Dec. 16 and will host Northeastern in the Ryan Center on Dec. 30.
  • Rhode Island will be playing outside of New England for the first time this season on Sunday. The Rams have played just one true road game thus far, falling at in-state rival Providence on Dec. 2.
  • House leads the Ram with 14.9 points per game followed by Zek Montgomery with 14.1.

  • Tomorrow's contest vs. Rhode Island is Kid's Day sponsored by Great Clips. The first 100 kids at TD Arena will receive a basketball piggy bank. Cougar Kids Club members will also receive replica jerseys for pick-up on the concourse.

  • Doors will open 1.5 hours prior to tip-off
  • Concession stands will open when doors open, and the Cougar Spirit Shop will open one hour prior to tip-off.
