MT PLEASANT, S.C. - The College of Charleston softball team suffered losses to Boston University and Canisius Friday night to open the Cougar Classic.
Drayton Siegling pitched eight full innings between both contests, tallying four strikeouts while only allowing three earned runs. She worked three straight scoreless innings in game two, fanning 11 batters in a row.
Charleston took a 1-0 lead behind a
Kayla Gutierrez RBI double before the Terriers drove in six runs in the second inning of game one.Â
Junior
Aniz Roman hit 3-for-7 between both games and accounted for two of the Cougars' runs behind her two doubles.
Brooke Tranum drove in two runs off of her first career home run in the first inning of the nightcap.
Halle Cannon recorded her first career hit and RBI to add the Cougars' third run.Â
Charleston returns to action Saturday afternoon for two more games in the Cougar Classic at Patriots Point. CofC is set to face Boston University again at 3:00 p.m.
