Men's Basketball Looks to Bounce Back at Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team will look to bounce back from a Thursday night loss at Drexel on Saturday afternoon at Delaware. Action is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.

STORYLINES
  • Charleston is coming off of just their third loss of the season on Thursday at Drexel. The Cougars held a 69-64 lead with two minutes remaining in the contest until a 6-0 Drexel run pushed the Dragons to the 70-69 win.
  • This is the first time the Cougars have lost back-to-back contest since February 28, 2022.
  • At 21-3, Charleston ranks 69 in the NCAA NET Rankings and ranks in top ten of winning percentage in the country with just three losses on the season with seven games remaining before the CAA Championship.
  • The Cougars and Blue Hens previously met on January 7 in Charleston. No. 23 CofC walked away with the 75-64 victory in what was the program's 15 straight win.
  • Charleston leads the CAA in scoring offense (79.6) while Delaware ranks fourth (70.0).
  • Four different Cougars scored in double-figures in the 1/8 game, led by Ben Burnham and Dalton Bolon with 13 each, Ryan Larson with 12, and Ante Brzovic with 11. Brzovic had a double-double, adding 12 rebounds.
  • Jyare Davis paced the Blue Hens with a game-high 18 points followed by Christian Ray with 14. Delaware leading scorer Jameer Nelson Jr. was unavailable in the program's first meeting this season.
  • Delaware is coming off a 72-60 loss to Monmouth on Thursday night in New Jersey
SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS
  • Nelson Jr. leads the team in scoring and ranks second in the CAA with 19.7 points per game. Teammate Davis is not far behind at 16.8 points per game, good for fourth best in the CAA. Nelson Jr. also leads the conference with 2.6 steals per game.
  • Christian Ray controls the glass for Delaware with 8.8 rebounds per game. That mark is second best in the league. 
  • Nelson Jr. had 20 points, six steals and four assists in the Blue Hen's loss at Monmouth. Ray was two points from a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds.
