CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston returns to action for a split weekend series with Michigan State and Air Force Friday through Sunday at Patriots Point. The Cougars are riding a three-game win streak with the latest installment a 4-3 comeback win over in-state rival Coastal Carolina Tuesday to close out the month of February.

Charleston hosts their first Big Ten opponent since the Covid-shortened 2020 season when Maryland played at Patriots Point for a single Sunday game on opening weekend. Air Force is the first Mountain West team the Cougars have ever faced and completes the trio of US Military Academies. Charleston has faced Army four times since 1991 and Navy six times.

Friday through Sunday is the final weekend set from Patriots Point in the Cougars' 12-game homestand to start the season. Charleston hosts Longwood for two midweek games next week before hitting the road for the first time as well as opening CAA play.

Charleston has a rare meeting with a Big Ten opponent in Michigan State Friday and Sunday. The Cougars are 6-6 all-time against current Big Ten members having played Indiana (1-1), Maryland (1-2), Michigan (2-0), Michigan State (1-0) and Nebraska (2-4). Friday's matchup with the Spartans is the first Big Ten team the Cougars have played since the abbreviated 2020 season when they hosted Maryland in a one-game Sunday contest.

In their Division I history dating back to 1991, Charleston has never faced a current Mountain West team. Charleston and Air Force meet in a one-game scenario in the middle of a split weekend series with Michigan State.
