CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston softball team took both ends of the doubleheader Saturday afternoon, 7-1 and 3-0, to clinch the series win over Hampton.
Malaka Belser had a dominant performance at the plate in game one, batting 3-3 with three RBI to lead the Cougar offense.
Aniz Roman doubled in the third frame to drive in the first of a three-run inning.
Camden Carter hit a two-run shot in the sixth to seal the Cougar win.
Caroline Conner struck out six and only allowed one run to earn her fifth win of the season.
Payton Lemire shut out the Pirates in game two, only allowing two hits behind a season best seven strikeouts.
Mary-Kathryn Scott singled to right field to drive in the Cougars' first run in the first inning. Fellow rookie
Karlee Hughes drove in the other Cougar runs in the third and fifth frames.
Shealyn Starks finished game two with a double behind a 3-3 day at the plate.
