Box Score DELAND, FL.—The College of Charleston women's tennis team edged Oakland 4-3 on Sunday morning at the Mandy Stroll Tennis Center in Deland, Florida. With this win, coach
Angelo Anastopoulo has the most wins for a coach at the College of Charleston with 561 wins surpassing John Kresse, who had won 560 career wins.
In doubles,
Ella Faessler and
Nicole Stephens won for Charleston, and McKenzie Daniel and
Belle Kuhnert fought hard in doubles where they went into a tie-break against Oakland but not fell short 8-6.
Onto singles play, Stephens and Faessler picked up wins in their matches, but the match came down to three Cougars,
Peyton Brotzman,
Belle Kuhnert, and
Klara Vukicevic. Each of them forced a third set. Kuhnert fought her way to victory with a tie-break in the second set with a 7-5 win and then, won 6-4 in the third set to secure the win. Then, Brotzman after taking the first set (6-2), Oakland came back in the second set in a tie-break (7-3) however, Brotzman edged Oakland with a 6-3 win in the third set and secured the match for the Cougars.
