JACKSONVILLE,  Fla. - Samuel Bass' goal in the 49^th minute helped the College of Charleston men's soccer team earn a 1-1 draw at North Florida on Sunday evening at Hodges Stadium.
 
The Cougars outplayed the Ospreys in the first half, holding an 11-4 advantage in shots, but it was North Florida's Luc Granitur who found the back of the net early to put the Osprey's up 1-0.
 
Etienne Julien provided a chance for the Cougars with a shot toward to the top of the net with six minutes remaining in the first half that was saved by the Osprey's Chema Preciado.
 
The Cougars continued to move up the field out of the locker room as Bass fired a shot just four minutes into the second frame that was saved by the Preciado. Bass then connected off the rebound pass from Leonardo D'Ambrosio to tie the game. The assist was D'Ambrosio's second of the young season.
 
Peter Thomas, Chris Cushing and Chris Elliott all recorded shots on goal but could not find the back of net to break the stalemate.
 
Olly Marshall recorded three saves for the Cougars as Charleston's defense limited the hosts to nine shots.

"I thought the guys fought hard tonight. We created a lot of chances but just weren't clinical enough in the final third. We played well over the weekend, but we need to turn these draws into wins. We will get back to work next week and be prepared for conference play."

Up Next: Charleston will return to Patriots Point on  Saturday, September 2 against conference foe Drexel. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. The match will serve as the annual Aaron Olitsky Memorial game as a part of the 50^th Anniversary celebration for the program.
