Cougars Face Rival Seahawks on Sunday in Wilmington

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston hits the road Sunday for a 1 p.m. matchup against rival UNCW.

The teams split their first two outings in CAA play with both teams defeating Hampton. The Cougars are coming off a 2-1 loss at Towson last weekend, and the Seahawks lost their league opener at Northeastern.

Ten different Cougars have scored goals this season, led by freshmen Bella Antonio and Shea Vidovic with two apiece. Olivia Freitas and Delaney Dawes have scored twice, and Freitas is tied with Antonio, Vidovic, Mary Alexander and Abby Fisher for the team lead with two assists.

Savannah Barron has started all seven games and has 22 saves and a 1.89 goals against average in 476 minutes.

UNCW played a tough early non-conference schedule with losses to Coastal Carolina, VCU, Liberty and East Carolina. Kayla Burroughs scored twice in a 7-0 win over Hampton on Thursday and is tied with Viktoria Hankova for the team lead with two. Hannah Wise has 26 saves and a 1.79 GAA in 604 minutes.

The Seahawks hold an 11-5-3 lead in the all-time series and have won seven and tied one in nine home matches against the Cougars. The teams played to a 1-1 draw last October at Patriots Point.
