
Cougars Renew Acquaintances with Furman on Tuesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston steps out of conference on Tuesday to face longtime rival Furman at Stone Stadium in Greenville. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
Both teams bring hot streaks into tomorrow's match. The Cougars are 2-0-4 including a 1-1 draw against with UNCW on Sunday, and the Paladins (4-2) have ripped off three straight victories by outscoring Winthrop, Coastal Carolina and Gardner-Webb by a combined 7-2.
Furman's losses have come against nationally-ranked ACC opponents Duke and Wake Forest. Charleston plays at Duke on September 26.
The Cougars are enjoying their longest undefeated stretch since going 6-0-3 at the end of the 2017 season. Charleston begins the week ranked third in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region poll.
Leonardo D'Ambrosio scored his second goal of the season to produce the draw with UNCW and is tied for the team lead with Peter Thomas. Olly Marshall has played all 540 minutes and has an 0.83 goals against average and .808 save percentage as the Cougars have allowed only five goals on the year.
Christian Kraus has a team-leading three goals and three assists for the Paladins. Aaron Salinas and Cameron Maung-Maung split time in goal and have combined for 25 saves.
The former Southern Conference foes are meeting for 33rd time with Furman holding an 18-10-4 lead in the series. The Cougars won the last time by a score of 2-1 in overtime at Ralph Lundy Field in 2021.
