Cougars Draw with Furman to Remain Undefeated

GREENVILLE, S.C.- The College of Charleston men's soccer team battled to a draw with Furman Tuesday evening to continue their undefeated season. The Cougars are now 2-0-5 and remain the only CAA team without a loss thus far into the season.

The Cougars struck first in the 12th minute when Chris Elliott took advantage of a breakaway down the right side of the field fed by Ezra White and buried the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.

The goal marked Elliott's second of the season and 10th of his young career as a Cougar while White notched his first assist of the season.

Elliott took four more shots throughout the match, only one of which on target.

Olly Marshall made five saves in his seventh complete game of the season.

The Paladins outshot the Cougars 16-12, 10 of which coming in the second half and leading to the equalizer by Christian Kraus in the 75th minute.

"Different night, same story. I was very pleased with the guys' performance tonight," said head coach Keith Wiggans. "If we finished a couple more of our chances then I think we come away with a win. We are creating good opportunities just not finding the back of the net."

"Furman is a good team and I am proud of the way they guys fought tonight.  We will go back to the training ground and continue to grow and develop as a team. This is a good team and a great group of guys."

The Cougars will travel to Durham, N.C. September 26 to face No. 11 Duke followed by a trip up to Monmouth September 30 for the continuation of CAA action.
