
Cougars Conclude Road Stretch at Monmouth

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Two teams in the thick of the CAA playoff race get together on Saturday when College of Charleston visits Monmouth for a 7 p.m. match.
The Cougars and Hawks are both 1-0-2 in conference play and tied for third with five points. Charleston came within eight minutes of knocking off Duke on Tuesday before dropping a 3-2 decision to the No. 21 Blue Devils. The loss was the first in eight games for the Cougars, who are 2-1-5 overall.
Monmouth enters with a record of 4-2-3 including a 4-0 win over Delaware. The Hawks also have a pair of 1-1 draws against Elon and Drexel in league action.
Leonardo D'Ambrosio had a goal on a PK and assisted on a Peter Thomas tally that gave the Cougars a 2-1 lead over Duke in the 72nd minute. The duo is tied for the team lead with three goals, and D'Ambrosio has nine points to rank eighth in the CAA.
Monmouth's Ben Zakowski leads the CAA with eight goals and 17 points.
The Cougars have won two of three meetings against the Hawks, most recently a 3-1 victory last season at Ralph Lundy Field. Chris Elliott, Iker Carew and D'Ambrosio scored Charleston's goals, and Olly Marshall made six saves.
