STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team fell on the road to Stony Brook 81-71 in a tight battle on Friday night.
The Cougars started off the night with a 9-0 run, supported by two baskets beyond the arc from
Alexis Andrews. The Seawolves were able to make up the deficit with drives to the basket, ending the first quarter tied at 11.
The two teams went back and forth in the second quarter, exchanging threes before Stony Brook downed back-to-back three's to take the lead. Charleston headed to the locker room down just five points at half.
Charleston held on within single digits for all the second half but was unable to stop the Seawolves in the paint. Stony Brook's Khari Clark tallied 28 points to propel her team to a lead that Charleston could not overcome.
Three Cougars led with double digits to end the night.
Jenna Annecchiarico tallied 22 points, now sitting just two points away from her 1500 career points milestone.
Taryn Barbot tallied 19 points in the matchup while Andrews tallied 16 points and four triples for the Cougars.
