GREENSBORO, N.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team kicked off CAA play with a road win versus on Friday, defeating North Carolina A&T 63-58.
The Cougars were led by
Jenna Annecchiarico, finishing the contest with 18 points.
Taryn Barbot and
Jada Logan also tallied double digits with 13 points respectively.
The Cougars had a slow start to start the matchup, struggling to down a basket until the fifth minute. A shot beyond the arc from Annecchiarico started the scoring for the Cougars.
Charleston was able to take the lead in the second quarter, where a set of threes from
Taryn Barbot tied the game. Consistent layups gave the Cougars their largest lead of the game thus far with six points heading into the half.
The Cougars were able to maintain the lead through the final whistle as a three-point shot from
Anika McGarity ended a fourth quarter scoring drought and sealed the 1-0 conference start.
