Charleston Faces Coastal Carolina in Final Midweek

CONWAY, S.C. – College of Charleston faces Coastal Carolina in its final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the HTC Center.

OPENING SERVE:

Charleston was swept by N.C. A&T this past weekend, but still holds a four-way tie for first place with Towson, Delaware and Hofstra.
The Cougars registered 15 total blocks in Friday's match against the Aggies, marking the first time since Nov. 7 and 8, 2000, that Charleston had back-to-back contests with at least 15.0 blocks.
CofC now leads the nation in total blocks this season, garnering 255.5 total blocks and 76 solo blocks. The Cougars are also 12th in the country with 2.81 blocks/set.
Charleston is eighth in opponent hitting pct., 10th in team digs, 21st in team attacks and 25th in digs/set.
Caitlyn Callahan had 19 kills and 11 total blocks against the Aggies and continues to lead the CAA in hitting pct. and total blocks. Nationally, the middle blocker is 10th in blocks with 112.
Emily Banitt's 971 total attacks is good for 10th in the country. Banitt is one-of-two active players in the country with 1,300 career kills, 900 career digs and 300 career blocks, while sitting tied for second in career sets with 523.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA:

Coastal Carolina is 8-13 this season and 4-6 in the Sun Belt. Five of the team's eight wins have come at home. Setter Jalyn Stout leads the nation with 12 triple-doubles, averaging 3.23 kills/set, 4.82 assists/set and 3.13 digs/set.

SERIES HISTORY:

Charleston is 27-14 against Coastal Carolina all-time and hold a 23-9 record in matches that are either three or four sets. The teams first met on Sept. 9, 1989, a 3-0 win for the Cougars.

UP NEXT:

Charleston begins the final month of the regular season at home against Hampton, beginning Friday, Nov. 1. The matches are slated to begin at 6 p.m. and 2 p.m., with Saturday's match serving as 70s Day.
