Charleston Renews Wofford Rivalry Monday Night

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team returns to TD Arena on Monday, December 16 to face former Southern Conference rival Wofford. Action is set for 7:00 p.m.
STORYLINES
  • This is the first meeting between the Cougars and Terriers since February 28, 2013, the final meeting between the programs before the Cougars joined the CAA. Charleston holds the all-time series record at 28-8 in the Division I era while Wofford holds the 54-76 all-time record.
  • Charleston, now 7-2 on the year, is coming off a thrilling 78-75 victory over Saint Joseph's on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. In a game of runs, the Hawks took their largest lead of the contest at 63-52 with 11 minutes to play. Charleston had an answer as they had all night, with Justas Stonkus, AJ Smith and Ante Brzovic leading the charge on a 15-2 run to tie the game. CofC took their first lead since 11:06 in the first half at 67-65 and never looked back.
  • Smith led Charleston with 18 points off the bench, his most in a Cougar uniform. 12 of his 18 came in the second half.
  • Brzovic scored his 1500th career point on a three in the opening minutes of the second half. He had 17 points, his eighth double-digit scoring outing of the season. He currently ranks 27th in the country in points per game (19.3) and 13th in the country in defensive rebounds per game (7.44).
  • The Cougars were a perfect 13-13 from the free throw line in the game and currently rank 25th in the nation in free throw percentage (78.0).
  • Point guard CJ Fulton ranks fourth in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (4.80). The senior tied his career best with nine assists vs. St. Joe's.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
  • Wofford enters the contest with a 4-6 overall record, most recently dropping a 79-56 contest at Elon on December 8. The Terriers struggled from the field, shooting 29.7 percent on the night.
  • Corey Tripp leads the Terriers with 13.4 points per game followed by Dillon Bailey with 11.2. Kyler Filewich controls the glass, averaging 8.6 rebounds per game. 
  • Tripp paced the Terriers vs. Elon with 12 points for his ninth-straight game in double-figures. Jackson Sivills and Justin Bailey added 11 points in the contest.

  • Doors will open 1.5 hours prior to tip-off
  • Concession stands will open when doors open, and the Cougar Spirit Shop will open one hour prior to tip-off.
  • Add your tickets to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay App prior to arriving at TD Arena for the smoothest entry experience.
