Cougars Look to Bounce Back at Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C.- College of Charleston women's basketball will travel the short distance to Charleston Southern on Tuesday, December 3 to take on the Buccaneers. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
 
OPENING TIP
  • CofC enters the matchup 5-1, suffering their first loss of the season on Sunday afternoon against North Dakota State.
  • The Cougars have faced Charleston Southern 70 times in program history, holding the 58-12 advantage over the Buccaneers.
  • The last time the two rivals faced was last season, where the Cougars took the 70-60 win in the Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
  • Charleston entered the new season after an impressive 2023-24 season, finishing 22-10. The Cougars gathered the most wins in a season since 2009-10 and competed in the postseason for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
  • CofC wrapped up the month of November undefeated with four home victories and one on the road.
  • Junior forward Lara Rohkohl has reached three double-doubles on the season through six games, averaging double-digit rebounds and scoring.
LUCK IN THE LOWCOUNTRY
  • The Cougars currently stand 4-1 on their home court, looking to replicate their success from last season. Charleston finished the 2023-24 nonconference season undefeated inside TD Arena.
  • CofC ended the 2023-24 season with only two losses in Charleston, finishing 13-2.
  • Charleston garnered a crowed of 4,399 in their season opener versus Meredith, the largest home crowd in program history.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • The Buccaneers hold a 3-6 record on the season and 2-2 on their homecourt.
  • The Cougars and Charleston Southern have faced two of the same teams, both playing North Dakota State and South Alabama over the weekend. The Buccaneers finished 2-0 on the weekend, while CofC finished 1-1.
  • The matchup will be the Buc's fourth home game in a row and their last home game of the year.
  • Charleston Southern is led by junior Catherine Alben, who has reached double-digit scoring in every game this season but one. Alben is currently averaging 15.6 points per game.
