Taryn Barbot Tallies 35 Points, Leads Cougars in Victory over Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C.- The College of Charleston women's basketball team defeated crosstown rival Charleston Southern 86-45 on Tuesday evening inside the Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars had a quick start, with McKinley Brooks-Sumpter knocking down a three-pointer for the first bucket of the game, as the Cougars finished the first quarter with a six-point lead.
  • Charleston outscored CSU in all four frames, finding their largest lead in the final quarter, leading by 42.
  • CofC forced 29 turnovers on the day as three Cougars led with four steals a piece.
  • Four Cougars hit double-digit scoring in the matchup.
  • Charleston improves to 59-12 against the Buccaneers, winning their ninth game in a row versus Charleston Southern.
LEADING COUGARS
  • Taryn Barbot led the team with 35 points on the day, one point away from her career high. Barbot knocked down ten shots beyond the arc, tying the program record for the most threes in a game. Only two other players in program history have reached ten three-pointers in a matchup.
  • McKinley Brooks-Sumpter tabbed her second double-digit game of the season with 13 points along with four steals.
  • Lara Rohkohl added nine points and 11 rebounds on the day, nearing a double-double.
  • Taylor Barbot tallied nine points on the day, leading the team with six assists.
UP NEXT
 
The Cougars will travel to Alabama next Wednesday, December 11 to take on Jacksonville State. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed on ESPN+.
