Men's Basketball Set for Matchup at Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team travels to Philadelphia on Tuesday, December 10 to take on Saint Joseph's. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. at Hagan Arena.

STORYLINES
  • The Cougars are coming off a 94-71 victory over Division II Tusculum on December 3 at TD Arena. Lazar Djokovic led the Cougars, who are 6-2 on the year, with 17 points followed by Justas Stonkus with a career-high 14. The rookie went 3-5 from the field and was a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. CJ Fulton had 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds for a complete evening.
  • Ante Brzovic leads the Cougars, averaging 19.6 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game. The senior from Croatia was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year and is featured on the Lou Henson Award 'Early Season' Watch List for the top mid-major player in the country. He ranks 33rd in the nation in points per game and eighth in defensive rebounds per game (7.88).
  • Fulton, the 2x NCAA assist/turnover ratio statistical champion currently ranks fourth in the nation in the category (4.88).
  • Charleston defeated Saint Joseph's 89-82 in Charleston a season ago in the first ever meeting between the programs. Brzovic led the returning Cougars with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Fulton dished out eight assists. Erik Reynolds II and Rasheer Fleming, both back for the Hawks, each contributed 16 points.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
  • Saint Joseph's won the Big 5 Championship on Saturday with an 82-68 victory over La Salle. It is the 22nd Big 5 title for the Hawks who are now 6-3 on the year.
  • Reynolds II was named MVP after scoring 24 points in the title game. The senior averages 15.4 points per game, good for second on the team behind Xzayvier Brown with 15.9 points per game. Brown contributed 21 points in the win vs. La Salle.
  • Rasheer Fleming controls the glass for the Hawks, grabbing 9.0 rebounds per game.
