MT. PLEASANT, S.C.- The College of Charleston softball team's offense was shut down in a 5-0 loss to Coastal Carolina Wednesday afternoon.
The Chanticleers opened the game with a two-run homer in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.
Coastal hit another home run to lead off the third inning and scored again on an RBI single in the fourth to secure the win.
The Cougar bats came up short, with
Malaka Belser's single in the fourth accounting for the lone hit.
Charleston returns to action this weekend at Patriots Point to host the Cougar Classic. The Cougars face Oakland at 3:00 p.m. and SC State at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
