STATESBORO, Ga. – College of Charleston baseball fell at Georgia Southern on a rainy Tuesday night 13-3, in seven innings. After falling behind early, the host Eagles racked 17 hits to score 13 runs to end the game with a ten run lead in the seventh inning.
Both teams scored in the first as Charleston took an early lead through a
Will Baumhofer lead-off homer. Georgia Southern responded with a two-run shot jump out in front. The Eagles then got another run after a call at the plate was overturned on a replay review, scoring one and allowing the inning to stay alive. They took advantage, bringing in one more for a 4-1 lead after the first. They continued to add on with a run in the second and four more in the third to take a 9-1 lead.Â
Georgia Southern ended the game with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the run-rule win. The season series is now even with the two teams scheduled to play next week at Patriots Point. Â
