BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The College of Charleston softball team dropped a close 6-5 decision to Campbell on Friday night.
The Camels struck first in the second with a bases-loaded RBI single then followed up in the following inning with two more runs before pushing to a 4-0 lead in the fourth.
The Cougars were held to just one hit until
Aniz Roman led off the sixth inning with a single.
Mia Dittoe followed up with an RBI single for the Cougars' first run and
Kaytlin Stacey hit her first home run of her rookie career to make it 4-3.
The Camels responded in the bottom of the frame with a two-run homer of their own.
Charleston fought back into the game again with two walks and
Audri Bates' bunt single to load the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh. Dittoe delivered again with a two-RBI single to make it a one run game, but Campbell ended the game with a double play.
The Cougars and Camels will face off again on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
