Women's Golf Takes Second at CAA Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. - The College of Charleston women's golf team finished T2 at the 2024 CAA Women's Golf Championship. Delaware won the title, clinching the win on the final hole.
Charleston and UNCW finished tied for second with league newcomer Campbell fourth and Elon in the top five. Towson placed sixth, William & Mary was seventh, and North Carolina A&T, Monmouth, and Hofstra rounded out the 10-team event.
Senior Viktoria Hund finished the 54-hole tournament tied atop the individual standings but was bested by Delware's Lilia Henkel on the playoff hole. Hund played a 4-under final round, tied for the best round of the competition. This is the secodn straight championship Hund as claimed the runner-up position.
Sunday's final round was played under sunny skies and temperatures in the high 60s with a calmer wind than the first two days of competition that saw golfers facing gusts in excess of 30 miles per hour. Three players, including Hund, were at par or better Sunday after just one round below par was turned in in the winds of the first two rounds. The Championship was the first in league history where the top three teams were separated by less than five shots at the conclusion of the tournament.
Emma Schimpf (T7) and Emily Dunlap joined (9) joined Hund in the top ten.
The Cougars will now await for potential at-large bids to the NCAA Championship.
