CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston women's soccer defeated Presbyterian College 1-0 on Sunday afternoon to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Senior
Delaney Dawes had the lone goal of the game, finding the back of the net from a cross served by
Emma Wennar in the 13
th minute.
The Cougars continued to press, out shooting their opponent 20-5 by the final whistle, with 10 shots on goal. Dawes had a chance to double the lead with a penalty kick in the first half but was unable to convert.
The Charleston defense was able to shut down the Blue Hose, allowing only one shot on goal, saved by
Savannah Barron. Presbyterian fought to find an equalizer but was unable to find a shot on goal during the second half.
The Cougars improve to 2-0 for the first time since the 2022 season after defeating Presbyterian for the fifth time in school history. Charleston now sits with a 5-0 record versus the Blue Hose.
Charleston will look to continue their winning streak, returning home on Thursday, August 22 to host High Point. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Patriots Point.
