CHARLESTON, S.C. – Middle blockers
Caitlyn Callahan and
Allie Holland combined for 27 of the team's 57 kills Friday night as College of Charleston came from being down one set (21-25, 25-20, 25-22 and 25-16) to defeat Utah Tech in the CofC Invitational.

The Cougars even their 2024 record to 4-4 while the Trailblazers suffer their second loss of the season and are now 5-2.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED:
- With Charleston trailing 8-7 in the fourth set, Callahan put down one of her 13 kills to level the game at eight. The Cougars never looked back, stringing together an impressive 18-8 run over the remainder of the set to complete the win.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST UTAH TECH:
- Charleston paced Utah Tech in attacking percentage, .230-.124, kills, 57-49, digs 79-63 and blocks, 10-6.
- A trio of Cougars recorded four blocks Friday: Callahan, Emily Dykes and Holland.
- Emily Banitt and Tynley Smeltzer led the defensive efforts, tallying 20 and 24 digs, respectively.
- Offensively, Callahan had a match-best .571 attacking percentage while Holland posted a .448 clip.
- Hannah Scott's 42 assists were a career-high for the sophomore setter.
- Scott also recorded 11 digs and three kills for her career double-double.

OF NOTE:
- Charleston faced Utah Tech for the first time in program history Friday evening.
- Callahan has recorded multiple blocks in seven of the eight matches including five straight contests.
- Banitt claimed her 17th career double-double (12 kills and 20 digs) and third with the Cougars.
- Charleston has recorded 10-plus blocks for the third time this season and second time over the last three matches.
- CofC had a season-high 53 assists, 57 kills and 79 digs Friday.
- Holland's 14 kills were one shy of her career high.
