Cougars Defeat Stony Brook in Conference Opener

The Seawolves were the first to strike, scoring in the 15th minute to take the lead. The Cougars answered in the 24th minute when a cross from Ezra White found the head of Matt Lenert, tying the game heading into the break.
Charleston came out in the second half scoring in the 53rd minute, when a set piece corner kick resulted in a header from Noah Gold into the back right corner of the net. Leonardo D'Ambrosio reentered the game, immediately making an impact and scoring in the 63rd minute on a through ball behind the Seawolves' back line. D'Ambrosio wrapped up the scoring for the Cougars with a header into the net in the 71st minute, giving the Cougars a 4-1 lead after four unanswered goals.
Stony Brook scored in the final minutes of the game to bring the score to 4-2 by the final whistle.
The Cougars outshot their opponent 7-5 in the second half, leading to the winning result that improves their record to 6-0 on the season.
Charleston will return home on Tuesday, September 17 to host Furman at Patriots Point. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed on FloFC.
