
Cougars Kick Off Conference Play at Hofstra

CHARLESTON, S.C.- The College of Charleston women's soccer team will travel to Hofstra on Thursday, September 19 to kick off conference play.
The Cougars will head into the matchup after closing nonconference play with a 3-0 win against West Georgia. The Cougars got on the board in the 22nd minute, when a cross from Mary Alexander ricocheted off a header from Bubbles Dever that was finished by Faith Slimmer.
The second goal of the day came in the 56th minute, when a corner kick from Faith Slimmer found Casey Malone in the box for her first goal of the season. The Cougars finished their scoring in the 77th minute when a ball from Millie Cluxton found Caroline Fowlkes at the top of the box, placing it in the bottom left corner.
Hofstra currently sits 2-1-4 on the season, coming off a 2-1 loss against Dartmouth this past Sunday. The Pride went 9-2-1 last season in conference play, with the Cougars being their only tied game. Charleston stands with a 1-9-1 record versus Hofstra, looking for their first win on the Pride's field on Thursday.
