CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston will represent the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (SAISA) conference at the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Match Race National Championships later this fall following a first place finish this weekend.

Andrea Melnik and
Axel Stordahl led the Cougars through the round robin and semifinals and went 3-0 in the finals to beat South Florida and secure the victory.

Down in New Orleans, La., the duos of
Emma Tallman/
Lucy Zinn and
Isabella Shakespeare/
Clara Murphy put together a second-place finish in the Open Sugar Bowl regatta. Shakespeare and Murphy finished with 70 points while Tallman and Zinn earned 100 points for a collective score of 170. In the Women's Sugar Bowl, the Cougars placed third with 165 total points.
Emily Alfortish and
Lucy Elvart sailed to 70 points while
Ashley Alfortish and
Marina Dryer garnered 112 points.

The offshore sailing team participated in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Offshore regatta in Chicago, Ill., earning sixth place with 37 total points.

Charleston sails in three regattas Sept. 28-29, participating in the Women's ACC Qualifier, the Danmark Trophy and hosting the Charleston Fall Interconference.
