SPARTANBURG, S.C. – College of Charleston women's soccer tied USC Upstate 2-2 in a midweek matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cougars were first to strike, when
Bubbles Dever found an open pocket in the Spartan back line and placed the ball into the back left corner. Ten minutes later, a cross from
Lilli Ray to the back post was finished by
Millie Cluxton for her second career goal. Charleston entered the break with a 2-0 lead.
The Spartans returned to the pitch in the second half dominating possession and tallying nine shots. USC Upstate scored in the 61
st minute and another in the 76
th to even the game.
Charleston took control in the final 10 minutes of the match with six shots but were unable to find the back of the net for the game-winning goal.
The Cougars move to 5-1-1 on the season and will return to Patriots Point on Sunday, September 8 to take on local foe Charleston Southern. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed on FloFC.
